11/5/10 - The National Association of Gay & Lesbian Real Estate Professionals celebrated our third annual meeting during the week of the National Association of Realtors convention in New Orleans. The annual meeting was a complimentary dinner for NAGLREP members at Tommy's Cuisine, an excellent Italian restaurant in the warehouse district of New Orleans. We were honored to welcome guest speaker Fred Underwood, the Director of Diversity and Outreach Programs at the National Association of REALTORS®. NAGLREP founder and CEO Jeff Berger addressed the group, and NAGLREP President Todd Shipman also talked about our vision for the future.
In addition to sharing great food and drinks with our peers this week, we are proud to announce on 11/8/10 NAR's delegate body voted to amend the NAR Code of Ethics to include sexual orientation as a protected class. The proposal was originally brought forward by the National Association of Gay & Lesbian Real Estate Professionals, and the Wisconsin Realtor Association. We are very thankful to NAGLREP Vice President Eric Kodner for introducing our proposal for change to the Wisconsin Realtor Association (WRA), to NAGLREP Advisory Board member Debbi Conrad, lead counsel to the WRA who drafted the proposal, and to WRA member Char Glocke for her continued support in the process. The historic change passed with 93% of NAR's delegate body in favor of the amendment. We look forward to our 4th annual meeting during the 2011 NAR convention in Anaheim, CA.
