Raising the Bar in Denver
A NAGLREP Social Spotlight by Darla Michelsen
Paul Strahsburg and Scott Elliott are Realtors serving Denver and the surrounding suburbs
After spending 25 years in the IT field in Ohio, Paul Strahsburg fulfilled his lifelong dream and moved to Denver. It was 1988 and he was attracted to the beauty of the outdoors along with a new career in a growing city. With help of friends and a growing network, he and his husband Scott Elliott have built a thriving real estate brand The Pride of Denver Team with Keller Williams Realty.
Paul is very dedicated to his clients and is willing to go above and beyond the normal tasks of a real estate agent. Over the years he has found himself painting a house to prepare for sale, pulling up carpet, and doing whatever it takes to get the job done. He shares his stories with pride and genuinely feels it is outstanding customer service that has built his business. He also has a strong desire to share his knowledge and experience with Denver’s LGBT community.
Darla Michelsen: It was a pleasure to meet with Paul in our hometown and have a conversation about his story and what makes him passionate about his real estate team.
Darla Michelsen: Can you tell me about the market that you work and what makes it unique?
Paul Strahsberg: My husband Scott and I work all over the greater Denver area, and even those smaller towns that surround the city like Henderson and Genessee. We prefer to work central and south metro area but we go where clients need us.
DM: If you were giving advice to someone wanting to get into Real Estate, what would you tell them?
PS: Don’t do it!!! Only joking! I love it and wish I had started my Real Estate business earlier. It’s a great opportunity for someone who has discipline…someone who has a good ability to build personal and business relationships. It's very important to have great listening skills to meet a clients needs.
DM: Why do you feel it’s important to align with an organization such as NAGLREP?
PS: We work in an office of over 500 agents. When I hear that someone in the office is looking for an agent in another state, I immediately search the NAGLREP member directory so that I can refer and support a member. I feel a sense of community with members of NAGLREP, and I feel the advocacy achievements are exceptional.
DM: What are three things people wouldn’t know about you?
PS: Oh my gosh!!!
DM: I always love the reaction I get when asking that question
PS: I’m in the choir at church, but of course everyone in the choir knows that! I’ve ran 3 half marathons, and I’m a pilot. I love to fly and having my own plane is in my future.
DM: What do you do with your free time?
PS: We like to go on Disney cruises and of course flying! Being able to go to the mountains is something I really love about life in Colorado.
DM: Are there any charities that you like to be involved with?
PS: We’re very involved with our church. We also belong to a group called After Hours and on Monday nights we meet at a spot downtown. We spend a great amount of our time giving back to our community and helping those who are homeless. For example, we buy a lot of food gift cards and hand those out.
Darla Michelsen: Paul is one of those unique people who believe in a hard day’s work and getting things done. I was impressed to learn about his involvement with his church group and their efforts to feed Denver’s homeless. Keep up the good work Paul!
