Eric Gage is a Realtor serving Houston Texas and the surrounding areas.

Eric Gage has been a Realtor in Houston for 10 years and with his amazing spirit of entrepreneurship opened his own REMAX office for 6 years.  It wasn't long before Eric had achieved a degree in Mass Communications and began his career in economic development working as a City Manager for the City of La Marque. 

During his time served working in the area of economic development, he was exposed and learned a great deal of skills that would be most useful in the area of Real Estate. Eric got involved with commercial real estate and purchased rental properties while continuing his work as a city planner.   It would be later when  the opportunity arose for his to purchase a RE/MAX office that his long term commitment before getting the opportunity to purchase a REMAX office.  And it was at that moment he left his position at the city and was fully committed to the business of Real Estate.

Eric has an educated dedication to the community and a professional attitude about how his business should be conducted and perceived by the people he works with and the clients he serves. He has taken action in the way he conducts his business and has set a higher level of expectations and customer service that leads him to a connection with his customers that has mutual benefits.

Darla Michelsen: What are some of the benefits you bring to your clients because of your past experiences?
Eric Gage: Having started my career in city planning and moving on to commercial and owning rental properties as well as my business with water front and recreational properties has given me a wealth of experience in such areas as budgets, zoning, and future development that surround the residential market.

DM: What are the some of the trends you are seeing with buyers and sellers?
EG: I think buyers are smarter and more realistic when buying homes by living in homes that are more suited to them, it is much more about the lifestyle and what’s available to them and not so much the biggest house on the block.

DM: Are you heavy into technology in regards to your clients?
EG:I have a strong web presence and my office is current on these new systems and can’t say that is a strong focus, but my attention is driven more on being part of the communities in ways that are building a stronger referral base. My current business is built on the concepts and practices that produce strong referrals such as with the referrals I receive from NAGLREP.

DM: Is there something in your business model that is a strong key of your success?
EG: I have many systems within my business model but something that is key is Follow Up.  I feel the best customer service is keeping everyone in the loop. I set aside time daily to make sure that happens for everyone involved in a transaction.

DM: It would be interesting to see how many issues could be avoided by just making sure everyone involved with any business transaction were all kept in the loop.  It's surely a great way to establish trust which in turn creates loyalty.

DM: What does your commitment to your business and clients look like daily and how do you feel it sends a bigger message?
EG: I have a very structured day that includes power hours and time blocking and coaching and providing support to my office and co-workers. I set high expectations for myself, our office staff, and clients.  Setting certain standards and expectations signals to clients that I’m working hard for them and we will get the job done.  Being very up front and honest with your clients from the beginning sets a level of professionalism that is respected.

DM: How do you incorporate in your business giving back to the communities you serve?
EG: I personally support several charities and our office supports the Children’s Miracle Network by giving a portion of the proceeds of every closing.

DM: Do you have a personal mission statement?
EG: Live life and have fun!

Eric Gage has many years of lasting success ahead of him in business and life that comes from demanding only the best of himself.
