Since forming Akers, Bartlett, & Co. in 2006, James has specialized in helping sellers market & sell their home. James currently serves on The Greater Greenville Association of REALTORS® Grievance Committee as well as The Realtor Political Action and Legislative Committee. James announced in February that he would run as a Democrat for the Greenville County Council District 24 seat. In June he won his primary with 54% of the vote and now faces a Republican opponent in November. If Akers wins he will be the first open gay candidate elected to any office in South Carolina.
